Puppy Sweepstakes Classes Judge: Janet Van Wormer

Thank you to each and every one who entered their lovely puppies and veterans under me in the Sweepstake classes at the Willamette Valley Saluki Club Specialty. It was indeed an honor to have such a quality entry.

Puppy Dogs 6 - 9 mos. (2)
1st - Snowynde Winter Fury
A beautiful puppy with excellent presence. Nice head and beautiful eye. Good shoulder assembly with a strong rear, hocks low to the ground. He was a very balanced puppy standing and moving.
2nd - Snowynde Winter Hawk
Also a beautiful puppy. Good shoulder assembly but rear not quite as strong as the first place winner when standing free. Very similar to my 1st place winner and learned after judging they were litter mates.

Junior Dogs 12 -18 mos. (2)
1st - Tavanai's Neato Bandito
A beautiful mahogany/red male who was ultimately my Best In Sweepstake Puppy. Beautiful head with correct eye. Lovely neck that flowed into correct shoulders. He had excellent depth for lung capacity enabling him to have endurance. A very long striding graceful dog with absolute soundness. He had everything that said, I'm a Saluki.
2nd - Tavanai Haadih
Beautiful head and expression. Good front assembly and strong rear. A very nice moving youngster but was not particularly happy to be in the ring which hampered his overall impression.

Puppy Bitches 6 -9 mos. (1)
1st - Snowynde Winterborne
A beautiful puppy who was full of herself and had a hard time settling down. When she gets her act together she will be hard to beat. She was my Best Opposite Sex To Best In Sweepstake Puppy. She had a beautiful head, eye and expression. Her neck was long, flowing into nicely laid back shoulders. Beautiful strong rear, and when she pulled it together her movement was excellent.

Junior Bitches 12 -18 mos. (2)
1st - Karob Gardens Of Babylon
A very showy bitch with nice type. She had a nice head and expression. Her rear was strong and she moved with grace on the side.
2nd - Eden's Maya of Amrika
A nice bitch with good neck and shoulders. Overall a sound bitch with nice movement.

Junior Veteran Dogs 7 -10 years (1)
1st - Ch. Sirianni Arazi Alerek
A beautiful male with correct shoulders and a long neck. Very nice moving boy. Excellent type and a strong mover.

Senior Veteran Dogs 10 years and older (1)
1st - Ch. Al Shekari Jamrah, JC
Beautiful head and eye. He had nicely laid back shoulders and good depth. He is just starting to show his age but is still sound and strong moving.

Junior Veteran Bitches 7 years and under 10 years (2)
1st - Ch. Carmas Drivin Ms Daisy
She had a beautiful head and eye. Good layback of shoulder and a strong rear that enabled her to move very smoothly in spite of her handler who had a cramp and eventually had to hand her dog off to another handler. She had excellent presence.
2nd - Ch. Sirianni Aajah Of Tiarc
This class should have had two 1st place ribbons. This was a lovely bitch with a beautiful head and eye. She has a beautiful long neck with excellent shoulders. Also a very smooth moving bitch. She was not quite as happy to be in the ring.

Overall, the exhibits had excellent type and were beautiful. The breeders of Saluki's are doing an excellent job of preserving the breed for the future. You are all to be commended. Thank you for the honor of judging your wonderful breed. - Janet Van Wormer

Puppy Dogs, 6-9 mos. (2)
1st - SNOWYNDE WINTER FURY.
12/22/98. By Ch. Ziba Indus x Ch. Snowynde Perle Essence Sha-Ra.
Breeder/Owners: Bonnie A. & Lois Boucher.
A nice fine feathered dog, nice clear eyes, good pigmentation, nice neck and a very good front. Brisket is well let down and the topline is quite good and the angulation is the correct type. It moves quite freely and a very nice young dog.
2nd - SNOWYNDE WINTER HAWK.
12/22/98. By Ch. Ziba Indus x Ch. Snowynde Perle Essence Sha-Ra.
Breeder/Owners: Bonnie A. & Lois Boucher.
Not much between the two of them except that I feel the second dog wasn't quite as good as far as the brisket and a little bit longer, but it is a very nice dog and it also has a nice head, but I prefer the front to the back one.

Bred By Exhibitor (1)
1st - TAVANAI HAADIH.
6/18/98. By Ch. Baghdad Talk of the Town x Tavanai Birsheba.
Breeders: J. & H. Haynes & R. Power. Owner: Rosemary Power.
Only exhibit in this class. Dog was a little bit _____ and consequently left a bit wide in its movement. __________, but was a bit sloppy and all over the place and I think the handler had a bit to do with that and I believe it is the first time shown. With training the dog could improve a lot.

Open Dogs (4)
1st - ASPEN ALLAH'S CRUSADER, JC.
11/10/95. By Ch. Aspen's Gift of Allah x Aspen's Jett.
Breeder: Janice A. Flaningan. Owners: Catherine Gregory & Janice Flaningan.
This dog, I believe, is five years old. Quite a mature dog, nice depth of body, good flanks, nice angulation, and moved quite well. The head is quite nice, quite refined with a fairly moderate skull with like proportions and is in excellent coat and really glistening. A very nice dog indeed.
2nd - TAVANAI'S NEATO BANDITO.
6/18/98. By Ch. Baghdad Talk of the Town, JC x Tavanai Birsheba.
Breeders: J. & H. Haynes & R. Power. Owner: Rosemary Power.
Fifteen months old. This dog moved quite well and has quite good shoulders and fairly good rear angulation, nice deep chest.
3rd - BLUE MNTN RED OCTOBER.
7/28/93. By Ch. Jen-Eff Khepera's Tarikah x Ch. Blue Mountain Baacku.
Breeder: Colleen Hewes. Owners: Anthony Garcia & Colleen Hewes.
Is rather high in rump for me. Is a bit high in rump and lacks angulation and didn't perform well going around the ring at all.
4th - FC CHUBASCO HOODLUM.
11/20/94. By Chubasco Hoodini x Ch. Chubasco Swing Street.
Breeder: Barbara Fischer. Owner: Anthony Garcia.
I wasn't particularly impressed with the dog's head to be quite honest. It just wasn't true type and I think it left a little bit to be desired. That is only my opinion, another judge perhaps will be different.

SNOWYNDE WINTER FURY

Puppy Bitch - 6-9 mos. (1)
1st - SNOWYNDE WINTERBORNE.
12/22/98. By Ch. Ziba Indus x Ch. Snowynde Perle Essence Sha-Ra.
Breeders/Owners: Bonnie A. & Lois Boucher
One only in the class. This bitch is a very nice type of bitch. Good head, nice length of neck and a good layback of shoulders. Good back and good hindquarters. Very similar in type to my puppy dog winner. And naturally being feminine, a little bit smaller, but I think both of these, this puppy bitch and the puppy dog, have got a very good future.

Junior Bitches - 12-18 mos. (2)
1st - KAROB GARDENS OF BABYLON.
3/27/98By Ch. Rosewood Aja's Arabian Onyx x Ch. Kiabe Nadira.
Breeders: R. & K. Frost & W. & B. Duarte. Owners: J & M Kearney & K Frost.
The first bitch is rather smaller than the other one, shows a better outline, better topline and moved out a lot more than second place. She has rather a nice head, good front, nice and straight looking front on and a good lay of shoulder. Nice topline and good angulation.
2nd - EDEN'S MAYA OF AMRIKA.
3/28/98By Ch. Rataki Marjan Al Taruub x Ch. Andi's Deva of Eden.
Breeders: Jillaine Butler & Debra Bumbaugh & Joy C. Barbieri. Owner: Cheryl Myatt.
The second bitch, I would like to see this bitch, if anything just a little bit less puddeny. Carrying a bit of weight and I think that showed up when the little bitch was moved. Otherwise not a bad bitch.

Bred By Exhibitor Bitches (3)
1st - KYZYL KUM OKSANA.
10/25/94. By Ch. Kyzyl Kum Djinn x Ch. Kyzyl Kum Djemma.
Breeders/Owners: Wendy & Brian Duggan.
This bitch is not a large bitch, but moved out beautifully. Good lay of shoulder, nice head, in excellent coat and has good rear angulation. A very nice bitch.
2nd - TAVANAI TIARC KIYARA NIHAL.
3/15/96. By Ch. Snowynde Frankly My Dear x Ch. Sirianni Aajah of Tiarc
Breeders: R., N.& E. Crait & R. Power. Owner: Rosemary Power.
Red bitch in nice coat. Didn't move nearly as well as the dog in front and hence placed second.
3rd - SIRIANNI NALA.
4/4/95. By Ch Sirianni Riibaal x Sirianni Aanisah's Qirmiziy, JC.
Breeder: Pamela Sirianni. Owners: Wanda L. & Pamela Sirianni
Rather a little bit loose when she is running, her legs go around a little bit, and she is far too long as far as I am concerned.
Not a bad class.

Open Bitches (3)
1st - TIARC TAVANAI MAD ABOUT YOU.
3/15/96 By Ch. Snowynde Frankly My Dear x Ch. Sirianni Aajah of Tiarc.
Breeders: Ronald, Nicholas & Elizabeth Crait & Rosemary Power. Owner: Christine C. Hicks.
A very nice bitch is our winner. I know she is carrying weight, but she is by far the best mover. Stretches well out and covers the ground beautifully and certainly, with a couple of pounds off her, wouldn't have any problem in catching gazelle. A lovely bitch.
2nd - MYSTERY'S DIXIE LANDS JAZZ.
5/28/96. By Ch. Snowynde Frankly My Dear x Ch. Mystery's Flairs Jazz.
Breeders: Sharon & Chris Kincaid. Owner: Sharon & Chris Kincaid.
Another young bitch, 3½. She is a rather fine bitch. Shows a bit of promise, but unfortunately she was a little bit tired of the handler today and naturally I did penalize, but a good solid bitch.
3rd - BEL S'MBRAN AMANDA SUNDOWN.
8/20/95. By Ch. Sundown Mahabad Jiwan x Ch. Mata Salamata's Juvenior Hawa, JC.
Breeders: G. & S. Bell. Owner: James D. Black, DVM.
This bitch did not move well at all and I would suggest to the handler that you really shouldn't - he just told me this is the first time he has showed. A bit of practice. That is what you need and you will certainly go somewhere.

Winners Bitch
KYZYL KUM OKSANA
A very nice bitch as I said before and also the reserve.

Reserve Winners Bitch
TIARC TAVANAI MAD ABOUT YOU
Once again, I did penalize for the weight, otherwise a beautiful bitch.

Junior Veteran Dog, 7 -10 years (1)
1st - CH. SIRIANNI ARAZI ALEREK.
3/24/92. By Ch. Tavanai Raabih Kabir x Ch. Sirianni Rajiyyah Harmony.
Breeders: Wanda L. & Pamela Sirianni & Rosemary Power. Owners: Wanda L. & Pamela J. Sirianni.
Only entry in this class. Quite a nice style of dog. Seven years old and moved quite well, in nice coat, and I would say if you persevere, might be you could go right into the open classes again and win well with this dog.

Senior Veteran Dog, 10 years and older (1)
1st - CH. AL SHEKARI JAMRAH, JC.
9/12/87. By Ch. Euzkotar Cedardell Malik Nar. x Sirianni Xybil of Ophir, JC.
Breeders: Keith Smith & Sherry Smith. Owner: Keith Smith.
Twelve years old. One only. For 12 years old, this dog didn't move around the ring quite well. He is puffing a bit now, but I would say in his time, he has been quite a nice dog, and it is nice to see the old fellows come out.

Junior Veteran Bitch (1)
1st - CH. CARMAS DRIVIN MS. DAISY.
3/24/90. By Ch. Clarinda Sunna Sarea Bashir x Ch. Carmas Desert Eyes.
Breeder/Owner: Lyndell Ackerman.
Only entry. A nice red bitch. Moved very well indeed. A lovely coat, and I would suggest that with a little bit of weight off this dog, she could hold her own with the dogs in the younger class. A very nice style of bitch well worthy of first place.

Stud Dog (1)
1st - CH. ZIBA INDUS.
5/12/95. By Indra-Khan Sawahin x Ch. D'Ansor Jerzy's Jeep.
Breeders: Jerzy & Tracey Skupny. Owners: John & Tracey Skupny.
One only exhibit, first with three dogs. The get are quite a nice ______. Moved quite well, the young bitch at the back was a little bit nervous at the start, but she has settled down and I think that ________________ . Overall I would say if I bred this litter, I would be quite happy with it. Quite nice.

Brood Bitch (1)
1st - CH. SIRIANNI AAJAH OF TIARC.
5/27/91. By Ch. Tavanai Raabih Kabir x Ch. Sirianni Aanisah.
Breeders: Wanda & Pamela Sirianni & Rosemary Power. Owners: Ronald, Elizabeth & Nicholas Crait.
Only one. With four youngsters behind her. Would have been a very nice litter and all are quite nice dogs.
